Fitting Breastforms
| Breast prostheses come in many shapes, weights and sizes today. Choosing the right one for you may seem daunting because there are so many choices. But there are so many choices because there are so many types of real breast to emulate. The goal is to match the remaining breast as close as possible. If you have had a mastectomy, it is important to balance the weight of the other breast to avoid possible back problems. Directly after surgery, you may want to use a lighter weight form until the nerve tissues become less sensitive as they do over time. Some forms have more projection and others have softer tissue that has a more more natural drape. |
