William Donald Kelley, DDS
A dentist by training, William Donald Kelly developed his protocol in response to his own pancreatic cancer. Dr. Kelley's theory differs from most of the other pioneers of alternative cancer therapies who believe that cancer is the result of a deficient immune system. Kelley believes that cancer is often caused by the body's inability to metabolize protein effectively.

The pancreas secretes enzymes into the small intestine to aid digestion of protein. It also secretes enzymes into the bloodstream that reaches all cells and is utilized by the immune system in destroying cancer cells.

Kelley's "metabolic detoxification" therapy calls for a restriction of protein. A diet of whole grains, vegetables and fruits is emphasized. Raw juice, supplements of protyolytic enzymes and coffee enemas are also used. Perspective diets are prescribed based on ten metabolic types ranging from slow-oxidising vegetarian to fast-oxidising carnivores.
